چکیده
New wave of the technology revolution, often referred to as the fourth industrial revolution, is changing the way we live, work, and communicate with each other. These days, we are witnessing the emergence of unprecedented services and applications requiring lower latency, better reliability massive connection density, and improved energy efficiency. In accordance with this trend and change, international telecommunication union (ITU) defined three representative service categories, viz., enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low latency communication (uRLLC). Among three service categories, physical-layer design of the uRLLC service is arguably the most challenging and problematic. This is mainly because uRLLC should satisfy two conflicting requirements: low latency and ultra-high reliability. In this article, we provide the stateof-the-art overview of uRLLC communications with an emphasis on technical challenges and solutions. We highlight key requirements of uRLLC service and then discuss the physical-layer issues and enabling technologies including packet and frame structure, multiplexing schemes, and reliability improvement

5G Control Channel Design for Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications
The fifth generation (5G) of wireless systems holds the promise of supporting a wide range of services with different communication requirements. Ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) is a generic service that enables mission-critical applications, such as industrial automation, augmented reality, and vehicular communications. URLLC has stringent requirements for reliability and lat...
متن کاملShort Block-length Codes for Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications
This paper reviews the state of the art channel coding techniques for ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). The stringent requirements of URLLC services, such as ultra-high reliability and low latency, have made it the most challenging feature of the fifth generation (5G) mobile systems. The problem is even more challenging for the services beyond the 5G promise, such as tele-surger...

We consider spectrally-precoded OFDM waveforms for 5G wideband transmission in sub-6GHz band. In this densely packed spectrum, a low out-of-band (OOB) waveform is a critical 5G component to achieve the promised high spectral efficiency. By precoding data symbols before OFDM modulation, it is possible to achieve extremely low out-of-band emission with very sharp spectrum transition enabling an e...

Machine-to-machine communication, M2M, will make up a large portion of the new types of services and use cases that the fifth generation (5G) systems will address. On the one hand, 5G will connect a large number of low-cost and low-energy devices in the context of the Internet of things; on the other hand it will enable critical machine type communication use cases, such as smart factory, autom...
